Import leukemia data

Launch BoundarySeer from your start.gif menu. (If you can't find the BoundarySeer.exe file, search for it using "Find" from the Start Menu.)

The first step in creating a new BoundarySeer project is to import data.

  1. Quick Start: Choose to create a new project. Hit "OK".

  2. Import Data: Choose to import vector data. Hit "OK".

  3. Import Vector Data: You can import it as a text file (leukemia.txt) or as a set of shapefiles (choose leukemia.shp, and BoundarySeer will automatically import leukemia.shx and leukemia.dbf). Choose the file from within the Samples directory, hit "Import".

  4. Import Data Set: Choose a planar projection and user coordinates. You need not define a missing value code. Hit "Next."

  5. Select Variables to Import: Choose to import ID as a label variable by selecting "ID" and hitting the "Label/Other>" button next to the Label category. Following the same process, import "Cases," "Population," and "Cases/1000" as numeric variables. Hit "Next."

  6. View Data in Map: The dataset has imported. Choose "Yes" to view the data in a map.

  7. Edit Spatial Network: You will not need to edit the spatial network. Choose "No."
