Boundary export formats

The export format depends on the boundary detection procedure (clustering, wombling, location uncertainty, and fuzzy classification) and the data format.

Procedure

Source data format

Export file type

clustering

any format

shapefiles (*.shp, *.shx, and *.dbf)

wombling

point

text (*.txt) OR shapefiles (*.shp, *.shx, and *.dbf)

polygon

shapefiles (*.shp, *.shx, and *.dbf)

raster

Arc/Info Grid ASCII files: one for each boundary descriptor. The base name for the set of files is chosen in the "Save as" dialog. Each filename begins with the chosen base name followed by the descriptor name:

  • BLV (e.g., "basename BLV.txt")

  • BMV (e.g., "basename BMV.txt")

  • gradient angle for each variable (e.g. "basename variable GA.txt")

  • gradient magnitudes for each variable, only for multivariate data sets where the BLV summarizes many variables. (e.g., "basename variable GM.txt").

For those with subboundaries: subboundary connection exported in shapefile format (*.shp, *.shx, and *.dbf).

wombling with location uncertainty

any format

Grid ASCII file containing BMV values (*.txt)

fuzzy classification using CI or CE
