SpaceStat and Geohealth Tutorials – Scale Conversion and Interpolation

Materials

SpaceStat_Tutorial_Scale_Conversion.SPT SpaceStat Project

Estimated Time

20 minutes

Objectives

You will convert the spatial support of a population density dataset from county polygons to watershed polygons. You will also interpolate precipitation data from metereological stations (point observations) to the same watersheds (polygons). These examples illustrate how simple converting data between geographic scales is with SpaceStat.

Tutorial

Scale Conversion and Interpolation

Featured

SpaceStat is a comprehensive software package that enables visualization and analysis of space–time data, overcoming some of the constraints inherent to spatial-only Geographic Information System software.

Methods

Time is an integral part of our analysis. All views of the data can be animated, from maps to histograms to scatter plots. Furthermore, these animations can be linked together to explore ideas and discover patterns.
