SpaceStat and Geohealth Tutorials – Detecting Clustering with Q Statistics

Materials

SpaceStat_Tutorial_Detecting_Clustering.SPT SpaceStat Project

Estimated Time

30 minutes

Objectives

In this tutorial you will detect possible clustering of breast cancer cases and controls in simulated data. You will learn how to evaluate the presence of case and control changes through time and how to assess the global and local clustering of residential histories using Q-statistics. You will also look at the sensitivity of your results to k, the number of nearest neighbors considered.

Methods

Time is an integral part of our analysis. All views of the data can be animated, from maps to histograms to scatter plots. Furthermore, these animations can be linked together to explore ideas and discover patterns.
