Research Scientist and Project Manager

B.S., 1994, Penn State

M.S., 1996, University of Michigan

Ph.D., 2002, University of Michigan

Postdoctoral Fellow, 2004, University of Michigan

I joined BioMedware in August 2004. I am the project manager for all actively funded research projects at BioMedware. As a project manager, I collaborate with BioMedware's software engineers, research consultants, and beta-testers to design and create user-centered software for modeling and statistical analyses in public health and environmental science. I believe that fostering communication, collaboration, teamwork, and openmindedness is the key to successful project management and a healthy, fun, and productive work environment.

As a scientist, I plan to develop a research program at BMW in the near future.  I am excited about the opportunities to study applied problems at the interface of public health and the environment.

At BioMedware, I enjoy a work environment that values creativity, flexibility, professional growth, and the ubiquitous availability of snacks.

Notable Achievements

Life-time ice hockey statistics since 2002: 26 goals, 34 assists, 22 PIMs, >50% face-off winning percentage.

Personal

In addition to working at BioMedware and training to play center for the Detroit Redwings (not likely given the above stats), I am proud to be a Lecturer at the University of Michigan (Ecology and Environmental Education), the Education Coordinator for the Buhr Park Children's Wet Meadow Project, a program assistant in the Theatre Program at the Center for Research on Teaching and Learning (University of Michigan), and a member of the board of directors of the People's Food Coop. Each of these experiences contributes significantly to the skills I employ at BioMedware.

Most of all, I enjoy spending time and traveling with my wife and partner of 15 years, Heidi.
